Cause

This issue occurs when the Edge VM is placed and running on an overcommitted ESXi host.

Edge is resource sensitive. If the Edge is deployed on a ESXi host which does not have dedicated resources for the Edge VM, and if the resources are overcommitted, the Edge starts experiencing:

  • Issues with bootup
  • Network connectivity

Resolution

To prevent this issue:
  • Always deploy the Edge VM to an ESXi host that contains lots of CPU and Memory.
  • Do not overcommit the ESXi host by deploying too many virtual machines in it.

To recover from the issue:

  • Power off or migrate virtual machines from the affected ESXi host
