Resolution

VMware Workstation uses certain processor instructions that are available on most recent x86 processors but not on earlier processors. There are other processors that have their own emulation layers that are likewise unsupported.

These processors are not supported:

  • Intel: P5, P54C, P55C, P24T
  • NexGen: Nx586
  • Cyrix: M1
  • AMD: K5, K6, K6-2, K6-III
  • VIA: C3
  • Transmeta Crusoe
  • Intel Itanium
