Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
In on-prem vSphere Client (HCX plug-in),  The following message is displayed during Bulk Migration validation check.
・Message : "Non VMware or out of date tools detected on [VM name]. HCX will attempt a graceful shutdown"

Cause

This message is displayed in the following cases.
・Your VM using open-vm-tools(OVT).
・Your VM using older vmware-tools than ESXi host version on VMC.

Resolution

・Currently there is no resolution for OVT issue.
・Refer the workaround section for old version of vmware-tppls issue.

Workaround:
To workaround this issue, upgrade vmware-tools using the following method.

Confirm to support version on VMC on AWS.
・Access to VMware Product Interoperability Matrix
・Select Interoperability tab.
・Select a Solution to VMware Cloud on AWS
・Add Platform/Solutions to VMware Tools

Case of Linux:
Updates of open-vm-tools are distributed with operating system updates and patches, as well as updates to virtual appliances.
