Issue/Introduction

Memory adjustments has to be performed to be in line with the recommended and documented Memory setting for vSphere+ gateway appliance.

Symptoms:

As per  System Requirements for vSphere+ for vCenter Cloud Gateway is 28GB memory. When customers install vCenter Cloud Gateway with version less than 8.0.0.10000 (build number 20540795), memory usage shows 24GB only and will continue to use 24GB only, this mismatch can lead to problems in future.

Follow the instructions in this article to address this issue.

Resolution

This issue is resolved in new release of vCenter Cloud Gateway version 8.0.0.10000 (build number 20540795). Resolution is applicable only when customer does a fresh installation of Cloud Gateway. Customers who updates to build number 20540795 from older builds will have to apply the workaround manually.

Workaround:
All affected customers must manually apply the below instructions.

1. Customer has to access the vCenter where Gateway VM is deployed and change the resources.
  •          Login to vCenter H5 client as administrator
  •          Locate Cloud Service Gateway Virtual Machine
2. Check the Memory allocated  24GB in 'VM Hardware' section and 'Capacity and Usage' section.

Note: Stop executing the remaining steps if the Memory is 28GB or more already.

3. Take VM snapshot (Recommend to take VM snapshot in powered ON state, without memory)

4. Right click on VM object, select Edit settings

5. Modify Memory from 24 to 28GB

6. Click ok to save

7. Check the Memory allocated ins 28GB in 'VM Hardware' section and 'Capacity and Usage' section

8. Restart the gateway VM

9.  Please consolidate the snapshots on the virtual machine.

Note: In case of any issues seen after step 3, revert to VM snapshot taken as per step 3 and retry.
