vSAN Skyline health "Controller firmware is VMware certified" erroneously reports firmware version mismatch of the HPE Smart Array controller

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

Although it is listed as compatible on the VMware Compatibility Guide, the vSAN Skyline health test Controller firmware is VMware certified will erroneously report firmware version mismatch of the HPE Smart Array controller.

Environment

VMware vSAN 7.x

VMware vSAN 8.x

 

 

Cause

Older version of the hpessacli tool reports the firmware version of the HPE Smart Array controller with the suffix '-0' then it will not match to the compatible version against the VMware Compatibility Guide.

Resolution

Update to HPE Smart Storage Administrator CLI (HPE SSACLI) version 6.15.11.0 ( or later) to fix this issue.
