Smarts NCM: Audit on Alcatel devices will Pass on in Preview mode but will fail on the main compliance test for no reason.

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:


Compliance Test Fails when auditing some Alcatel Devices 

Customers will experience everything working fine in the Previewer or Preview mode.  (See below) 

But when running a compliance test it will fail and show "Non-Compliant". (see below) for no reason. 

Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - NCM

Cause

The configuration file for the Alcatel device was created in Windows Notepad or another Winodws program and have hidden control characters when they are placed in a Linux OS or file structure.

Resolution

This issue will be resolved in a future release, currently we are providing the following Patch: 

Please run the following commands at the Linux command prompt. 

1. source /etc/voyence.con
2. service vcmaster stop
3. cp $VOYENCE_HOME/jboss/server/vc-server/deploy/1vc.sar/VoyenceControlServer.jar $VOYENCE_HOME/jboss/server/vc-server/deploy/1vc.sar/VoyenceControlServer.jar.ORIG
4. Copy the attached file into $VOYENCE_HOME/jboss/server/vc-server/deploy/1vc.sar/VoyenceControlServer.jar
5. service vcmaster start
6. test and confirm that your compliance doesn't fail any more.
