Smarts NCM: Why there is difference in hardware attributes between two DCS versions?

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:




There is no hardware change on devices, however NCM shows difference in hardware configuration after a pull configuration on new DCS.  Below screenshot shows the difference on a device.

Resolution

The reason for the difference is that during the first time(DCS6), NCM pulls the hardware information using CLI and the second time(DCS7), it pulls using SNMP. 

There isn't an option in DCS information to check the mechanism used during the pull, based on information in the screenshot, we can tell the first time it was using CLI and second time it s using SNMP.

For hardware details, we recommend always using SNMP, because SNMP will give consistent & complete data.
