Symptoms:


This article explains how to verify if your OpenSSL version is supported by Smarts NCM.

Cannot install Smarts NCM and receive error stating openssl version is not compatible.
Receive the following error during Smarts NCM installation:

ERROR: The openssl RPM is installed but the version does not match the required
version (1.0.0).
 
1 error detected.  Please correct the above error and then rerun the installer.

Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - NCM

Cause

OpenSSL version is not compatible with Smarts NCM.

Resolution


The OpenSSL versions supported by Smarts NCM in Redhat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) are as follows:
  • RHEL5: OpenSSL 0.9.8e-fips-rhel5 01 Jul
  • RHEL6: OpenSSL 1.0.0-fips 29 Mar

To view the OpenSSL version in your environment, enter the openssl command after logging to the LInux machine:
 

[root@NCMQE-RH62-1 ~]# openssl
OpenSSL> version
