By logic during AutoDiscovery, Smarts NCM determines device uniqueness using a 2-out-of-3 rule that is applied at the device server level. The three values Smarts NCM checks are IP Address, SYSOBJECTID and UID. If 2-out-of-3 values match, the device is determined to be a known device (not unique), and will update the device in the database with the new information.
As long as the devices pass the 2-out-of-3 rule (explained above) and belong to different device servers there is no issue. Different device servers can have redundant devices but they are uniquely identified in NCM using idxs. If they belong to the same device server it will not be discovered as unique, the devices will be overwritten.
