Smarts NCM: Why are Cisco WS-C2960XR-48 devices discovering as WS-C2960S-48TS-L

Issue/Introduction

Customer installs WS-C2960XR-48 devices but are showing up as WS-C2960S-48TS-L on the models column in the GUI. 

Please see the screen shot below:


Normally to resolve the issue is to remove the mechanism SNMP and only use SSH to discover the device, however in this case that doesn't resolve the issue.

VMware Smart Assurance - NCM

Cause

This is cause because the OID (1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.1208) information is the same between the WS-C2960XR-48 and the WS-C2960S-48TS-L in the Cisco.Models file. 

Resolution

To resolve the issue please download the attached patch (hwfuncs.inc) and follow the directions below:

1. Go to $VOYENCE_HOME/custompackage/cisco if one doesn't exist create one.  
2. Copy the attached hwfuncs.inc and place it in the $VOYENCE_HOME/custompackage/cisco directory
3. Complete a service voyence restart. 
4. Complete a Pull of System Properties to confirm the issue has been resolved.
