How to obtain the MIB file to use with the Smarts Network Configuration Manager (Smarts NCM) software (formally Voyence).



The file VOYENCE-TRAP-MIB is the MIB file used in the Smarts NCM 9.x software that is used by the Generic SNMP Integration Adapters when sending traps. To obtain this file, you must do the following:

1. Install the Smarts NCM Generic SNMP Integration Adapters
2. Navigate the adapters directory structure to the MIB file.

The following sections explain the steps necessary to do these tasks.

Installing the Smarts NCM Generic SNMP Integration Adapters
To locate the MIB file used by the Smarts NCM software for traps, first the Generic SNMP Integration Adapters must be installed. Follow the instructions outlined in the EMC Smarts Network Configuration Manager Version 9.2 Documentation Portfolio to install the Generic SNMP Integration Adapters download. These instructions can be found in the Smarts NCM 9.2 install guide contained within the documentation portfolio (NCM_92_Installation_Guide.pdf) on page 297. Note the following about installing the Generic SNMP Integration Adapters:

• IMPORTANT! All Smarts Network Configuration Manager 9.x software requires a 64-bit Operating System architecture for installation. It will not install properly nor run correctly in a 32-bit architecture environment.

• The installation file can be found in the Utils directory in the root/base directory of the Smarts NCM ISO image file.  It may be necessary to mount or extract the ISO to get access to this directory and the files needed for installation.
• The install file will have a name format as follows:

NCM_<VERSION NUMBER>_SNMP_<Operating System Version>-<x64 OR sparc64>.<bin OR exe>

• If the system the software is being used on does not have a Graphical User Interface (no windows just text) then make sure to use the -i console command line parameter when executing the install command.

Obtaining the VOYENCE-TRAP-MIB file
Once the Generic SNMP Integration Adapters are installed into the Smarts NCM software, do the following to obtain the MIB file:

1. Navigate to the Smarts NCM base install directory (<basedir>). By default, the <basedir> of the Smarts NCM software is either /opt/smarts-ncm (Linux) or C:\opt\smarts-ncm (Windows).
2. Change directory to jboss.
3. Change directory to server.
4. Change directory to vc-server.
5. Change directory to deploy.
6. Select the directory that corresponds to the Smarts NCM API that the Generic SNMP Integration Adapters use.
   • For the Smarts NCM 9.x software, this directory is 30VCApi-9.1.0.sar.
7. Change directory to the Generic SNMP Integration Adapters folder: 111NCM-SNMP-Adapter-integration-module.sar.
8. Find the VOYENCE-TRAP-MIB file.
