Smarts NCM: unable to launch NCM GUI, powerup.jnlp file is downloaded instead of launching application

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:


Each time user tries to launch NCM GUI on client machine from IE, it downloads powerup.jnlp file, instead of launching application using the file. Due to this we have multiple powerup.jnlp file downloads and user needs to manually double-click on the file after download to launch the application.

Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - NCM

Cause

 

 

 

 

Resolution

In IE -> Navigate to Tools-Internet Options - Advanced - Security, make sure to uncheck the "Do not save encrypted pages on the disk". 
Next, launch the NCM GUI, it will launch the application automatically, without prompting for download of powerup.jnlp.
