Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

Smarts NCM Device discovery fails with the following error:

Status: Failed
Results:
[SystemProperties] Action failed...
ERR:Terminal communications not configured Could not get system properties via the terminal Failed to get any system properties [Identity] Action failed...
ERR:Terminal communications not configured [Interfaces] Action failed...
Pulling interface information using SNMP V1 SNMP-Get failed, check SNMP Credentials for SNMP V1 ERR:Can't read variable sysDescr Could not pull Interface information via terminal Failed to get any interfaces [Routes] Action failed...

Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - NCM

Cause

SNMP walk and SNMP get were disabled in the device for the server, so the above errors are generated and device is not discovered.

Resolution

To address this issue, ensure that SNMP is enabled in the device.
