Smarts NCM: Seeing the following Message in event log; TrapCallBack:Couldn't find associated device" x.x.x.x, what does it mean

Symptoms:


NCM is processing traps from unkown devices

The event.log file has messages like TrapCallBack:Couldn't find associated device" x.x.x.x

Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - NCM

Resolution

Whenever NCM receives traps or syslogs it processes the message and checks if that device/server is being managed by it or not and if it doesn t find that device/server then it gives this message-  TrapCallBack:Couldn't find associated device" x.x.x.x

Please check /var/log/messages there you will be able to see what messages are being received

This is not an issue with NCM, the server is only processing traps being sent to it

Smarts is functioning as it should.
