Smarts NCM: Report Advisor hangs on basic reports after updates to Red Hat Linux OS were applied.

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:


Cannot run any reports in Smarts NCM Report Advisor.

The following conditions, events or system behaviors may be observed with this issue:

• Updates to Red Hat Linux OS caused reports in Report Advisor not to function.
• Cannot run reports in Smarts NCM Report Advisor after Red Hat Linux OS updates were applied.

Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - NCM

Cause

The following Red Hat Linux OS Patch updates restrict the use of Smarts NCM Report Advisor:

• Updated: 1:mod_ssl-2.2.3-81.el5_9.x86_64
• Updated: httpd-2.2.3-81.el5_9.x86_64:

Resolution

To address this issue, do the following:

1. Rollback the following Red Hat Linux OS patches on the Smarts NCM Application, Database and Report Advisor systems:

• Updated: 1:mod_ssl-2.2.3-81.el5_9.x86_64
• Updated: httpd-2.2.3-81.el5_9.x86_64:

2. Once the rollback has been completed, restart the services on the Smarts NCM Application Server, Database Server and Report Advisor systems.
