Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

Discovery of Cisco Nexus switch fails with error: Valid Credentials Found, but could not determine driver for device

Even though the correct discovery protocol (SNMP in this case) and correct device class were being used discovery still failed with the error:

Feb 25 11:34:38 :-224355440/10.18.187.37@1460/SSH#2: DeviceObj::newDevice  (x.x.x.x) Valid Credentials Found, but could not determine driver for device
Feb 25 11:34:38 :-224355440#1: ------ 10.x.x.x,doFindNewDevice - 10.x.x.x #-224355440 terminated

Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - NCM

Resolution

Device Services Support (DSr) version installed did not contain the certification for this particular device.

The device in this case should have had the following entry in Cisco.models:

Nexus 5596;               12.3.1.3.1038;    1460

The users entry did not match this and so discovery failed for all these devices.
Once this entry was changed the devices discovered correctly.
