Symptoms:


Contextual launch does not work

From the EMC Â®  Smarts Â® Network Configuration Manager Version 9.4.1 Installation Guide: 
Entering a pre-defined URL, a user or an external application can launch the Network Configuration Manager application, and then go directly to a specific location within the application to view device details or job status. 

However when you test this you get the following error:

[root@bhxvdst01 ~]#  wget https://127.0.0.1:8880/contextual-launch/launch?deviceAlias=NLAMSDC1MP888
--2015-12-03 16:34:26--  https://127.0.0.1:8880/contextual-launch/launch?deviceAlias=NLAMSDC1MP888
Connecting to 127.0.0.1:8880... failed: Connection refused.

Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - NCM

Cause

typo in the guide

Resolution

For the contextual launch to work, the URL needs a modification.

Please ignore the guide and use the following URL:
https://127.0.0.1:8880/contextual-launch/launch.html?deviceAlias=NLAMSDC1MP888

Please note that "launch.html" is used instead of "launch".

Because the URL is changed and the documentation is not updated, the URL used is not working.

The documentation will be amended in the next patch release
