SIP traffic intermittently fails on SD-Wan Edge

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

• SIP flows intermittently fail, or take 2 - 4 minutes to establish. 
• Phone is unable to complete registration
• Registration keeps flapping
• SIP is the only traffic affected when it happens
• SIP is classified as Real-time High

Environment

VMware SD-WAN by VeloCloud

Resolution

Make sure there are no business policy rules that classify SIP traffic (port 5060, 5061) as real time traffic. Instead, SIP should be classified as Transactional.

Note: Starting in 3.3.2, the default application map classifies SIP traffic as transactional. However, custom rules can override that default behavior.
