Title: Alarm for forwarder_upstream_server_timeout
Event ID: forwarder_upstream_server_timeout

Alarm Description

• Purpose: Highlighting a timeout issue with the upstream server of the DNS forwarder.
• Impact: This may result in VMs being unable to resolve domain names.

Steps to Resolve

For 4.2.0 and higher

Recommendations:

Follow the below procedure to check the DNS forwarder statistic in the UI. Review the upstream DNS server statistic.

1. With admin privileges, log in to NSX Manager.
2. Select Networking > IP Management > DNS.
3. Find the DNS service you need to enable.  Next to the service name, click >
4. The UI show DNS Forwarder Service details.
5. Click VIEW STATISTICS.

Debug the upstream DNS server to fix the network or upstream DNS server.
