Issue/Introduction

Alarm Title: Edge Transport Node detected Sub-NUMA Clustering activated
Event ID: edge_health.sub_numa_activated
Alarm Description

  • Purpose: Detect and report when Sub-NUMA Clustering is activated on a Bare Metal Edge.
  • Impact: Sub-NUMA Clustering is not supported on the Bare Metal Edge and may lead to data path failing to start due to insufficient memory per NUMA node.

Cause

Sub NUMA Clustering is not supported on Bare Metal Edge

Resolution

Recommended Action:

  • Deactivate Sub NUMA Clustering in the BIOS Settings.
  • The Bare Metal Edge must be power cycled to access the BIOS configuration to deactivate Sub-NUMA Clustering. The Edge should be put into Maintenance Mode before reboot.

The above screenshot shows an example of how to disable Sub-NUMA Clustering on a Dell EMC R640 server by accessing the 'Processor Settings' sub-section of the BIOS.
