Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • Workload Domain creation fails on "NSX: Register vCenter" sub-task
  • Messages similar to the following are present in the /home/vrack/vrm/logs/vrack-vrm-debug.log file:

2017-12-11 11:43:22.865 [pool-27-thread-7] ERROR [com.vmware.vrack.vrm.core.engine.SimpleWorkflowEngine] Exception in task: NSX: Register vCenter for Workflow d735b8fe-c302-4a08-93c8-6740827ae4c7-0
com.vmware.vrack.vrm.workflow.tasks.TaskException: Timed out: Waiting for NSX Manager to power on

2017-12-11 11:43:22.868 [pool-27-thread-7] DEBUG [com.vmware.vrack.vrm.workflow.tasks.nsx.RegisterVcenterTask] TASK NSX: Register vCenter, status changed FAILED
  • Examining the console of the newly deployed NSX Manager virtual machine reveals that it is either not powered on or not at a login prompt.


Cause

This issue can occur when the NSX Manager virtual machine for the new Workload Domain is not completely powered on.

Resolution

Power cycle the NSX Manager virtual machine associated with the new Workload Domain. Restart the failed workflow.
