Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

• Decommissioning a VMware Cloud Foundation host halts while waiting for the host to enter maintenance mode.
• The host in question shows a maintenance mode task in progress but has not progressed for an excessive period of time.
• There are one or more running virtual machines on the host in question.

Cause

This issue occurs due to one or more of the virtual machines on the affected ESXi host are not migrating to other hosts in the cluster, causing the affected ESXi host to complete the transition to maintenance mode.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, manually migrate the remaining virtual machines on the affected host to other hosts in the cluster.
