Issue/Introduction

  • Aria Automation runs an "incremental" data collection every 10 minutes where any object that is marked by vCenter as being modified is collected in Cloud Assembly. In addition, Aria Automation runs a full data collection every 24 hours where it collects all objects (machines, disks, tags, clusters and so on) from vCenter regardless of whether the object is modified or not.
  • When a tag is assigned to a VM in vCenter, it does not mark this VM as being modified, so Aria Automation does not update the VM with this tag in Cloud Assembly. The VM is then updated during the full data collection that runs every 24 hours.

Resolution

You can change something minor, for example add a CD/DVD drive on the VM and change it back when the VM is being tagged, so that vCenter marks the VM as being modified. Aria Automation will then data-collect the VM with its updated tags.
