HCX replication are in Syncing state with 0% progress and 0 bytes with status Error

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
Multiple replication are in Syncing state with 0% progress and 0 bytes with status Error

Cause

This issue is specific to virtual machines having the same vmdk names residing in different datastore on Onprem site. Currently, HCX DR does not support this configuration.

e.g.

vmdk1 -  "[DS1] sqlserver1/sqlserver1.vmdk"

vmdk2 -  "[DS2] sqlserver1/sqlserver1.vmdk"

Resolution

 

Workaround:

 

• We can initiate bulk migration on these virtual machines and configured schedule switchover window for a long time.
• We can rename the conflicting vmdks and associate them back to the virtual machine. This requires a downtime.
• We can storage VMotion the conflicting vmdks to the same DS.
