[VMC on AWS] HCX is stuck at deploying state in VMC UI for last 15-20 minutes

Issue/Introduction

To understand the HCX deployment duration and to check the HCX services/components.

Symptoms:
Deploying HCX via VMC on AWS console, the HCX deployment is stuck since last 15-20 minutes.

Resolution

VMware HCX is an add-on to the VMC SDDC. After enabling the add-on from the VMC console, the HCX Cloud components are deployed. 

After clicking the Deploy HCX option from VMC on AWS, HCX starts deploying at the backend for the SDDC. This process may take about 30 minutes or more. Following options can be checked if the HCX deployment is stuck for a longer duration:  

• Log in to the VMC Console at https://vmc.vmware.com.
• Select Networking & Security > Public IPs.

If the HCX is deployed successfully then 3 Public IPs should be visible in the UI for HCX, HCX Fleet-1, HCX Fleet-2. 

Navigate to the vCenter UI to check the hcx_cloud_manager management component/VM. 

If the above 2 conditions are fulfilled then HCX is deployed successfully and the deployment status from the VMC on AWS UI will show as complete after it finishes its backend tasks.
