Resolution

To troubleshoot the Fusion network connectivity error Could not connect Ethernet0:

Notes:
  • If you do not see an error when booting the virtual machine, see Troubleshooting networking and internet connection issues in VMware Fusion (1016466).
  • Each step below provides instructions and a link to a document, for performing the step and taking corrective action as necessary. The steps are ordered in the most appropriate sequence to isolate the issue and to identify the proper resolution. They are also ordered in the most appropriate sequence to minimize data loss. After completing each step, check that your virtual machine now has a connection to the Internet, or try powering it off and then turning it on again to see if the error persists. Work through each troubleshooting step in order, and do not skip a step.
  1. Make sure that your Mac has a working network connection. For more information, see Ensuring your Mac has a network connection (1026776).

  2. Check your networking type. Try changing from Bridged to NAT (or vice-versa); if that does not help, try changing back again. For more information, see Understanding networking types in VMware Fusion (1022264).

  3. If you are using Bridged networking, ensure that your virtual machine is set to use the correct network device. That is, if you have connected your Airport, ensure that Fusion is bridging the Airport's connection to the virtual machine. For more information, see Manually forcing VMware Fusion to use specific network interfaces or connections (1001875).

  4. Reboot your Mac.

  5. Ensure that you do not have a missing or corrupt virtual network adapter, by re-installing Fusion. For more information, see Uninstalling, reinstalling, and upgrading VMware Fusion (1014529).

  6. Confirm that Fusion's network services are running. For more information, see Determining the status of VMware Fusion's host services (1020900).

  7. Confirm that your Mac's network adapter is in good working order by running an Apple Hardware Test. For more information, see:
