Issue/Introduction
This article provides workaround steps to resolve an issue in the vRealize Automation 7.2 IaaS installer.
Symptoms:
When manually updating the IaaS Management Agent of vRealize Automation 7.2, you see these symptoms:
After upgrading to vRealize Automation 7.2 with the IaaS upgrade shell script, you see a failure when starting the IaaS installer executable.
After upgrading to vRealize Automation 7.2, the cluster tab on the appliance management page shows the IaaS Management Agent minor version as higher compared to the other IaaS components.
Cause
This issue occurs when the IaaS installer fails to start after manually updating the IaaS Management Agent to the latest available version.
Resolution
This is a known issue affecting VMware vRealize Automation 7.2.
Currently, there is no resolution.
To work around this issue, use one of these options:
Replace the IaaS Management Agent DynamicOps.Core.Common.dll file with the updated version:
Note: This is only required on IaaS nodes where the IaaS Installer fails to start and is not required on new IaaS nodes that run the Management Agent version included in the Virtual Appliance.
Log in to each of the vRealize Automation IaaS machines where the IaaS installer fails to start.
Go to the IaaS Management Agent installation folder and back up the current version of DynamicOps.Core.Common.dll file.
Download the KB2148278_DynamicOps.Core.Common.zip file attached to this article and extract the DynamicOps.Core.Common.dll file.
Copy the updated DynamicOps.Core.Common.dll file to the IaaS Management Agent installation folder.
Restart the Management Agent service.
Check if the IaaS Installer works as expected.
Use the vRealize Automation 7.2 Installation command line interface or installation API features as alternative methods replacing the IaaS installer functionality.
Note: The vRealize Automation Installation command line interface and the installation API features work with both the management agent included with the virtual appliance and its updated version.
If you plan to use the vRealize Automation 7.2 installation command line interface as alternative method to replace the IaaS installer functionality, see The vRealize Automation Installation Command Line section of VMware vRealize Automation Information Center.
If you plan to use the vRealize Automation 7.2 installation API features as an alternative method to replace the IaaS installer functionality, see The vRealize Automation Installation API section of VMware vRealize Automation Information Center.
Note: The vRealize Automation installation command line interface and installation API features can be used for both silent installation and post-installation activities to scale out the current deployment:
Install IaaS Proxy Agents.
Install IaaS DEM Orchestrators and Workers.
Install IaaS Manager Service.
Install IaaS Website
Uninstall the Management Agent on the IaaS servers and install the new version of Management Agent from vRealize Automation 7.2.
