Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • When using Internet Explorer on systems where the IE Enhanced Security Configuration is enabled, the ESXi 6.5 Host Client (https://FQDN-or-IP-Address-of-ESXi-host/UI) fails to load.
  • You see a blank page or the page may fail to redirect you to the login page.

Resolution

To resolve this issue:
  1. Add the URL to access the host client to the 'Trusted sites' list of IE before loading the page.
  2. Disable IE Enhanced Security Configuration using one of the methods below.

For Windows Server 2012:
  1. In the Server Manager Dashboard, click on Local Server.
  2. In the IE Enhanced Security Configuration option, click the ON button and change the option to OFF for both Administrators and Users.
  3. Relaunch the browser to access the ESXi Host Client.

For Windows Server 2008:
  1. Open the Server Manager Tool.
  2. Select the link to Configure IE Esc and disable both options for Administrator and Users.

Note: Configure IE ESC is located on the right hand side of the interface in the section heading Security Information.

  3. Relaunch the browser to access the ESXi Host Client.
