"Cannot solve all conflicts. Manual intervention is required" error when upgrading vSphere Replication to version 6.5

Issue/Introduction

This article provides information on manually resolving conflict when upgrade to replication appliance fails.

Symptoms:

• After running ISO upgrade and first reboot, VR console stops responding at Installation Settings stage and does not proceed further.
• Upgrading vSphere Replication to version 6.5 fails.
• You see this error:

Cannot solve all conflicts. Manual intervention is required

Cause

This issue occurs because of a conflict with the cairo-1.8.8-2.1.48 package.

Resolution

To resolve this issue:

1. Select Manual Intervention is required option in the Installation Settings of VR console.
2. Select remove lock to allow removal of cairo-1.8.8-2.1.48.x86_64.
3. Click OK on next page(s).
   The installation will then proceed.

Additional Information

Notes:

• VAMI page may not show any information. In this case, try a different browser or use incognito mode.
• You may need to register the VR again after the upgrade is complete.
• Restart the vCenter Web Client in case plugin does not show up after performing all the steps.
