Security and Third Party (TP) patch for vCenter Server containing security fixes and Third Party Product (For example: JRE, tcServer, and SLES OS components)

This patch is applicable for vCenter Server Appliance, Platform Services Controller Appliance, vCenter Server for Windows, Platform Services Controller for Windows, and vSphere Update Manager. For full product patch see KB 2147800.

Download and Installation

You can download this patch by going to the VMware Patch Download Center and choosing VC from the Search by Product drop down.

1. Attach VMware-vCenter-Server-Appliance-6.0.0.30000-5112509-patch-TP.iso file to vCenter Server Appliance
2. Go to command prompt and run the commands given below:
   1. To stage ISO:
      software-packages stage --iso
   
   
3. To see the staged content:
   software-packages list --staged

• To install the staged rpms:
  software-packages install --staged

Download and Installation

You can download this patch by going to the VMware Patch Download Center and choosing VC from the Search by Product drop down.

VIMPATCH package provides an autorun with Patch All button.

1. Mount the VMware-VIMPatch-6.0.0-4729111-20170201.iso to the system where the vCenter Server component is installed.
2. Double-click ISO_mount_directory/autorun.exe

vCenter Server Java Components Update wizard opens.

3. Click Patch All.

When you double-click the Patch All button, patches are applied to the existing products by launching the corresponding Windows installer packages. Autorun displays the patch results at the end.

Note:

• During the patch process, the Management Software undergoes a downtime as the patch restarts the services.
• vSphere Update Manager activities like Remediation of Hosts etc., are not supported while patching vSphere Update Manager.
• Systems where all vCenter Server components exist on a single system (Simple Install system), VIMPATCH can be applied only once to update all components. On a distributed system, you need to patch the components on each system individually.
