Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
When using the Virtual Distributed Switch Monitor Health window with VLAN and MTU checking enabled via the vSphere Web Client, you experience these issues:
  • The VLAN Health Status field next to a host shows an ? Unknown state information or invalid information
  • The MTU Health Status field next to a host shows an ? Unknown state information or invalid information
  • The Teaming and Failover Health Status field next to a host shows an ? Unknown state information or invalid information
  • Under the Health Status Detail, uplinks may report Not Supported although they are configured correctly
  • The Health Status Details section does not display at all


Resolution

This issue is resolved in vCenter Server 5.1 Update 2.

Additional Information

Depending on the options that you select, vSphere Distributed Switch Health Check can generate a significant number of MAC addresses for testing teaming policy, MTU size, VLAN configuration, resulting in extra network traffic. For more information, see Network health check feature limitations in vSphere 5.1 and 5.5 (2034795).
