CA Systems Performance for IM (SystemEdge)

Issue/Introduction

Issue:

The Sysedge agent 12.9 when installed on AIX 6.1 or AIX 7.1 gets installed fine, but when we start the agent it shows started, but when we check the status it shows "not active". This means that there is some problem with installation. When we look at the sysedge.log it shows the following:

2015-10-29 15:49:01.62 [W]-001- util/dl_unix.c[100] : SE_dlopen(): Failed to load library '/opt/CA/SystemEDGE/bin/libawsnmp64.a': Could not load module /opt/CA/SystemEDGE/bin/libawsnmp64.a. System error: Exec format error
2015-10-29 15:49:01.62 [F]-001- util/agent_util.c[1448] : SE_InitEnvironmentAndATech(): Failed to load awssnmp library


Environment: 

Sysedge Agent 12.9 on AIX 6.1
Sysedge Agent 12.9 on AIX 7.1


Resolution:

NOTE : First make a copy of the exisiting sysedge dump that you have. Once done, go to the "AIX_aix/Agent/SysMan/packages" folder and replace the "[email protected]" with that of the one attached to this KB


1. Uninstall the agent using the following command

lsm -e CA_SystemEDGE_Core

2. Replace the file "ca-systemedge-core-5.9.0.15036-AIX_aix" in AIX_aix/Agent/SysMan/packages folder in the Install media with file provided.

3. Replace the following content in "library.dct" file:

    [ca-systemedge-core (AIX):5.9.0.15036]

    Path=.

    [email protected]

    please replace the above text with the following text:

    [ca-systemedge-core (AIX):5.9.0.15103]

    Path=.

    [email protected]

4. Once done, save the "library.dct" file

5. Install the SysetemEDGE agent.
