vCenter Server Alarm actions repeat every 5 minutes after returning to normal status

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

• vCenter Server repeats the trigger action of an Alarm every 5 minutes after the Alarm status returns to normal.
• In the Tasks & Events log, you see these repeating messages:
  
  info <Date><time> Alarm 'Network connectivity lost' on host.local triggered an action
info <Date><time> Alarm 'Network connectivity lost' on host.local triggered an action
info <Date><time> Alarm 'Network connectivity lost' on host.local triggered an action</time></time></time>

Resolution

This issue is resolved in:

• vCenter Server 5.5 Update 1, available at VMware Downloads. For more information, see the vCenter Server 5.5 Update 1 Release Notes.
• vCenter Server 5.1 Update 2, available at VMware Downloads. For more information, see the vCenter Server 5.1 Update 2 Release Notes.
• vCenter Server 5.0 Update 3, available at VMware Downloads. For more information, see the vCenter Server 5.0 Update 3 Release Notes.

To work around this issue when you are unable to upgrade, disable and re-enable the Alarm.
