Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • After upgrading vCenter Server 5.5, a SerenityDB folder is created in the C: drive.
  • This folder reappears after the web client service is restarted.

Cause

This issue occurs due to a system property that is set by the installer and web client code used at the run time.

Resolution

This issue is resolved in vCenter Server 5.5 Update 3f, available at VMware Downloads.

To work around this issue, change the path of SerenityDB folder.

To change the path of SerenityDB folder:

  1. Take a backup of C:\Program Files\VMware\Infrastructure\vSphereWebClient\server\bin\service\conf\wrapper.conf file.
  2. In the wrapper.conf file, change the following line with your preferred location.

    Example:
    wrapper.java.additional.12=-DPS_BASEDIR="C:/Program Files/Common Files/VMware".

  3. Restart the web client service.
You should see that the serenityDB folder is created under the folder mentioned in step 2.
