Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
While adding vCloud Director 9.1 to vCloud Usage Meter, an error message Not Acceptable is displayed in the Usage Meter UI and vCloud Director is not added.

An incorrect bundle is reported by vCloud Usage Meter 3.6.1 when metering vCloud Director 9.1.

Cause

This issue occurs because Usage Meter cannot meter vCloud Director 9.1 because of an API incompatibility vCloud Usage Meter and vCloud Director 9.1.

Resolution

This is a known issue affecting VMware vCloud Usage Meter 3.6.1.

This issue is resolved in VMware vCloud Usage Meter 3.6.1 HP1, available at VMware Downloads.

Prerequisites:
  • This patch is generated for VMware vCloud Usage Meter 3.6.1 and supports only this version.
  • Ensure that there are no running vCloud Usage Meter tasks (For example: auto-collect).
  • Backup the appliance before proceeding with patch update.
  • Enable SSH on the vCloud Usage Meter Appliance.
Installation Steps:
  1. Download the usage-meter_3.6.1_hp1.zip archive.
  2. Use the sha1sum to verify the consistency of the ZIP archive.
  3. Upload the ZIP archive to the vCloud Usage Meter appliance.
  4. Unzip the archive by running the following command on the appliance:
    unzip usage-meter_3.6.1_hp1.zip
  5. Use sha1sum of verify the consistency of the usage-meter_3.6.1_hp1.zip package:
    sha1sum usage-meter_3.6.1_hp1.rpm
  6. Change the user to root or use sudo to run the rpm installation.
  7. Install the rpm package by running the following command:
        rpm --install usage-meter_3.6.1_hp1.rpm
  8. Verify that the vCloud Usage Meter service is up and running.
