Cause

This issue occurs when the vixDiskLib uses SAN mode to access thin unallocated disk which is not a lun. After failing to access the thin unallocated disk using the SAN mode, the vixDiskLib does not use other transport modes through which the disk can be accessed.

Resolution

This issue is resolved in Virtual Disk Development Kit 5.5 Update 3, available at VMware Downloads.

To work around this issue when you do not want upgrade to Virtual Disk Development Kit 5.5 Update 3, select other transport modes through which the disk can be accessed.
