Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • You have two (or more) vCenter Server 5.0 instances in Linked Mode.
  • You install the vSphere Web Client on the first vCenter Server and register all vCenter Server instances on the Web Clients.
  • When you log into the first vCenter Server and open the Web Client, you can see both vCenter Servers.
  • If you open a console to a virtual machine in the second in vCenter Server, you see the error:

SSL Verification failure for "hostname" due to a host thumbprint mismatch

An error occurred that affected the security of the connection

  • The console does not display.
  • You can see the console successfully through the vSphere Client. This issue only affects the Web Clients.

Resolution

This issue is resolved in vCenter Server 5.0 Update 1. For more information, see the Resolved Issues section of the VMware vCenter Server 5.0 Update 1 Release Notes.
To download vCenter Server 5.0 Update 1, see the VMware Download Center.
To work around this issue when you do not want to upgrade, view the affected virtual machine using its own Web Client or using the desktop vSphere Client.
