Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

• Virtual machines lose connectivity after enabling Port Mirroring on vSphere Distributed Switch.
• ESXi host or virtual machines running on this host loses network connectivity after enabling Port Mirroring sessions using Remote Switched Port Analyzer (RSPAN) or Encapsulated Remote Switched Port Analyzer (ERSPAN) on the vSphere Distributed Switch.
• In the vmkernel.log file, located at /var/log on the ESXi host, you see entries similar to:
  
  00:29:08.719Z cpu9:23180708)WARNING: Heap: 3529: Heap etherswitch already at its maximum size. Cannot expand
  

Resolution

This issue is resolved in:

• VMware ESXi 5.1, Patch Release ESXi510-201503001 (2099286)
  
• VMware ESXi 5.5, Patch Release ESXi550-201505002 (2114245)
• VMware ESXi 6.0, Patch Release ESXi600-201507001 (2111982)
