Unable to enable FT on the Virtual machine

Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

When enabling Fault Tolerance (FT) on virtual machine (VM), you get a message as Invalid virtual machine configuration.

 

Cause

This error is caused when expose hardware-assisted virtualization is not supported for FT in virtual machines.

Resolution

To resolve this issue,

1. Shutdown VM.
2. Disable Expose hardware-assisted virtualization on the VM.
3. Enable FT on the VM.
