Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:

After installing the IaaS web components manually in vRealize Automation, you experience these symptoms:

  • The Infrastructure tab reports the error:

    HTTP Status 502

  • In the Windows event viewer, you see entries similar to:

A fatal alert was generated and sent to the remote endpoint. This may result in termination of the connection. The TLS protocol defined fatal error code is 40. The Windows SChannel error state is 1205.

Cause

This issue occurs when self-signed certificates are created as SHA1RSA, which is not supported by Windows natively.

Resolution

This issue is resolved in vRealize Automation 7.0.1, which is available at VMware Downloads.

To work around this issue if you do not want to upgrade:
  1. Open the registry editor on your IaaS Server(s).
  2. Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Cryptography\Configuration\Local\SSL\00010003
  3. Edit the Functions and add RSA/SHA512 to the multi-string.
  4. Restart the IaaS Server(s) and test.
Note: This procedure modifies the Windows registry. Before making any registry modifications, ensure that you have a current and valid backup of the registry and the virtual machine. For more information on backing up and restoring the registry, see the Microsoft Knowledge Base article 136393.
