Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • vRealize Operations Manager has been upgraded to version 6.6.1, 6.7, 7.0, or 7.5.
  • Trying to create an SSH session as the admin user fails after the proper password is provided.

Cause

After an upgrade, authenticating to the local OS as admin can fail PAM validation.

Resolution

This issue is resolved in vRealize Operations Manager 8.x available at VMware Downloads.

To resolve this issue in vRealize Operations Manager 6.6.x, 6.7 or 7.x, follow the steps below.
  1. Log into the vRealize Operations Manager Admin UI as the local admin user.
  2. Click the User icon in the upper right and choose Change Administrator Password.
  3. Provide the Current password, then provide a New password.
  4. Click Save to update the admin user's password.
Creating an SSH session as the admin user will now pass PAM validation.
