Smarts is discovering Cisco 7800 series CCM servers as Compaq/IBM hosts
Smarts discovers both the Cisco 7835 and 7845 CCM servers as Compaq/IBM hosts

Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - SMARTS

Cause

Cisco 7800 series devices are currently being provided by Cisco as "appliances" which are based on Compaq/IBM hosts. However, the Sys OID that is returned from these devices in an SNMP walk does not reflect the original Smarts IP certification for these devices, but that of a Compaq/IBM host.

Resolution

Smarts IP is designed to discover devices based on their primary native SNMP agent. Unless a specific Cisco SNMP agent can be set to 'primary' and/or the native SNMP agent of the device can be disabled, these devices will continue to be discovered as hosts in Smarts IP.
