How can I configure Smarts Service Assurance Manager (Smarts SAM) WebConsole clients to use UTF-8 encoding?

To have Smarts SAM WebConsole clients use UTF-8 encoding, change the Java Runtime Environment Settings on all the hosts where the WebConsole will be used as follows:

  1. From Windows Desktop, select Start > Control Panel > Programs > Java.
  2. In the Java Control Panel, select the Java tab and click on View to open the "Java Runtime Environment Settings" window.
  3. In the "Java Runtime Environment Settings" window, select the User tab.
  4. In the User tab, enter the Runtime Parameter as follows:

    -Dfile.encoding=UTF-8

  5. Click Ok and then click Apply.
