Why are some Interfaces not populating Interface Groups in IP SMARTS?

Interface group not being picked up unless devices are removed and readded in SMARTS.
Why isn't your unmanaged interface going into <groups> in IP SMARTS?"

Environment

VMware Smart Assurance - SMARTS

Cause

The interface is unmanaged.

Resolution

An Interface must be managed to populate Interface Groups in Smarts.  Interface Groups do not get populated for unmanaged Interfaces. To check interface management status, run the following command:

<BASEDIR>/IP/smarts/bin/dmctl -s <IP server> invoke Interface::<Interfacename> getManagedState
