Creating TKG cluster fails with error "the VM is missing the requested IP address"

Issue/Introduction

This article explain about configuring DHCP server to your network to connect the cluster node VMs which TKG will deploy.

Symptoms:

The following error will occur when you try to create TKG management cluster on vSphere and IP address is not getting assigned to the TKG cluster nodes

"msg"="the VM is missing the requested IP address"  "addressType"="dhcp4"


Environment

VMware Tanzu Kubernetes Grid Plus 1.x
VMware Tanzu Kubernetes Grid 1.x

Cause

User may not have enabled DHCP server and can observe this error in the capv-controller-manager logs "msg"="the VM is missing the requested IP address"  "addressType"="dhcp4"

Resolution

User needs to configure DHCP server on the network for every cluster that is deployed to vSphere.
