Issue/Introduction

The purpose of this KB is to provide how to fix CPU or Memory reservation of appliance.

Symptoms:
CPU or Memory reservation are different from those specified in OVA. This issue is observed when deployed from OVF or OVA from local files or from URL. For example, CPU reservation of deployed NSX-T Manager appliance is 4 Mhz if you use small size OVA where CPU reservation is specified as 4000 Mhz.

Environment

VMware NSX-T Data Center

Cause

This is OVA parsing issue of vCenter Server and can happen with other OVA files other than NSX-T Manager Appliance such as NSX-T Edge Appliance.

Resolution

This is fixed in vSphere 7.0.

Workaround:
  1. Shutdown target appliance
  2. Set its CPU or Memory reservation as specified value in OVA through vSphere Web Client
  3. Start target appliance
