[VMC on AWS] Unable to apply storage policies to individual virtual disks during HCX bulk migration

Issue/Introduction

This article provides information why you are unable to apply storage policies to individual virtual disks during HCX bulk migration.

Symptoms:
When different storage policies are applied to the VM home object and virtual disks, we cannot apply storage policies to individual virtual disks during HCX bulk migration.

Cause

vCenter recognizes only the virtual machines and not the disks during HCX bulk migration, and there is no way to re-apply storage policies to each virtual disk.

Resolution

Re-apply storage policy for the disks after migration finishes.
