Issue/Introduction

  • In the vmkernel log, you may see similar entries:

    WARNING: VmkMgmtSyncEventIoctl - unable to validate header
     
  • This affects other logs accuracy as the above message appear so frequently that all other logging is drowned out and rotated.

Environment

  • VMware vSphere ESXi 6.0
  • VMware vSphere ESXi 5.5
  • VMware ESXi 6.5.x

Cause

This issue occurs on any HPE ProLiant server running HP VMware Customized images. Also, This issue occurs on PowerEdge servers with HBA330 running ESXi 6.5 U1, if the server is in VSAN cluster configuration.

Resolution

This is not a VMware issue.
