Issue/Introduction

Running the VDP 6.1 ISO Detection Patch resolves the ISO detection issues.

Symptoms:
ISO detection fails when upgrading from vSphere Data Protection (VDP) 6.1.0 to 6.1.1.

Environment

VMware vSphere Data Protection 6.1.x

Resolution

To resolve this issue, run the VDP 6.1 ISO Detection Patch, available at VMware Downloads.
  1. Download the VDP61_Iso_Hotfix.tar.gz file.
  2. Copy the VDP61_Iso_Hotfix.tar.gz file to the vSphere Data Protection appliance and place it in the /tmp directory. Windows users should use a file transfer utility such as Filezilla or WinSCP to do this. Linux users can use the scp command.
  3. You can use an SSH session (admin user) or the console of the vSphere Data Protection appliance to log in.
  4. Switch from the admin user to the root user by running the command:

    su - root

  5. Change the directory to /tmp by running the command:

    cd /tmp

  6. Run these commands:

    1. tar -zxvf VDP61_Iso_Hotfix.tar.gz
    2. cd VDP61_iso_hotfix
    3. chmod a+x VDP61_iso_hotfix.sh
    4. ./VDP61_iso_hotfix.sh
Note: This hotfix is only for vSphere Data Protection 6.1.0. It will fix the ISO not getting detected issue in the vSphere Data Protection configure UI.
