Issue/Introduction

Symptoms:
  • vCenter Server is reporting a task spew of "Update vSAN Configuration" under "Monitor" -> "Tasks"
  • These events are noticed/repeated on average 9 to 10 seconds

Environment

VMware vSAN 6.x
VMware vSAN 6.7.x

Cause

  • The log spew, was reported on all the hosts from one specific vSAN Cluster. This cluster had one host in in "Not responding" state as it was powered off.
  • Due to a disconnected host, cluster remediation was being triggered on the cluster in a loop which caused the log/events spew on the vCenter - tasks.

Resolution

  • The log spew can be stopped by taking the host out of the "Disconnected" / "Not-responding" state on vCenter lower than 6.7 U3 version.
  • This issue is now fixed permanently in vCenter + ESXi 6.7 U3.
